Porsche Macan

Porsche Macan

The Porsche Macan is branded as the sports car of the SUV segment. The Macan isn’t quite as large and practical as some rivals, but on the road it’s faster and a lot more fun to drive. After entering production in 2014, Porsche had sold over 350,000 units by the time it was facelifted in 2018.

Performance and Drive

The Macan comes in 4 different models, the entry level, Macan T, Macan S and the Macan GTS. The entry-level Porsche Macan and the Macan T are powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 261bhp with a 0-62mph in around 6.4 seconds, the Macan T does 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds. Top speed for both models are 144mph.

Moving on to the Macan S and Macan GTS, these have real power in them. Both cars use 2.9-litre V6 engines, with the S producing 375bhp and the GTS producing 434bhp. The Macan S can hit 0-62mph in a 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 161mph. The GTS hits 0-62 in a staggering 4.5 seconds with tops speeds hitting 169mph.

The Macan has an air suspension kit. The air suspension system uses compressed air to adjust the height of the vehicle’s suspension system. In this instance the springs on the Macan sit 15mm lower than on steel spring cars and the Sport button drops another 10mm when it is pressed. Choosing off-road mode will also raise it by 40mm, this feature expands Macan’s capabilities. A high level of grip, coupled with four-wheel drive, make the Macan a force to be reckoned with, even in slippery conditions.

Design and Interior of the Macan

With the Macan having that sporty appearance it still has its SUV shape. Inside it still has the staple for all Porsche models in the driver-focused cockpit. Once you climb inside, Porsche’s five-dial setup and high centre console surrounds you, with the high dashboard and low seats make the steering wheel sats out perfectly.

Standard Macan kit includes eight-way adjustable electric seats, automatic air-conditioning, front and rear parking sensors, DAB radio, cruise control with a speed limiter function. Also, it has other features such as lane departure warning, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, LED headlights and daytime running lights. The Porsche Macan comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the S model has 20-inch wheels, but there are optional 19, 20 and 21-inch rims available.
