The Porsche Cayenne is a sporty, premium SUV that offers impressive levels of comfort and refinement. The Cayenne is currently on its third generation.
Engine and Performance
Firstly, with the Cayenne, there’s a new chassis control system called 4D that monitors an array of sensors, feeding back to an active air suspension system to provide optimum responses over a wide range of terrains.
There’s no such thing as a slow Porsche Cayenne. At the Cayenne entry level it has 335bhp turbocharged 3.0L petrol engine with the capability of hitting 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds. The Cayenne turbo offers a twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 542bhp and 770Nm of torque and reaches 0-62mph in 4 seconds dead. The Turbo S E-Hybrid is even quicker with the normal 542bhp V8 engine but added on is a 134bhp electric motor. 0-62mph occurs in a staggering 3.8 seconds. If you want an even quicker Cayenne, the Turbo GT model is for you. This goes from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds. This is due to 631bhp and 850nm of torque.
Comfort and Space
In the Porsche Cayenne, you sit relatively low on soft sports seats that provide plenty of comfort for long journeys, while providing good support during hard cornering. With 18-way electronic adjustment on turbo models, this allows the seats to adjust and move forwards, backwards, up or down and changing the angle pitching forwards or backwards. The cabin can be adjusted to accommodate most people comfortably. The air suspension offers a ride that’s smooth and refined.
With turbo models, the boot space has a whopping 745 litres. The entry level does have a bigger boot with 770 litres. With the rear seats folded down the entry level has boot space on 1710 litres. On the other hand the E-Hybrid has less boot space with 645 litres and then 1610 litres. The smaller boot is due to the lift in the boot floor due to the electric motor.
Reliability of the Cayenne
The Cayenne have a strong reputation for reliability and build quality. Being a part of Volkswagen AG (Volkswagen Group), the Cayenne has a brilliant engineering standard. Since it shares a platform with the Audi Q7, it also benefits from the full range of VW Group safety technologies. This includes autonomous braking, lane-keeping assistance, cross-traffic alert and active cruise control. You are also able to get lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring but this will cost extra.
