The Audi TT has been around for a staggering 25 years, but it is now having one final launch before manufacturing stops. An end of an era! With its original TT model, Audi went from a maker of all-wheel drive weapons and clean, truly interesting and fashionable sports cars.
First Generation
Audi’s TT was a brilliant interpretation of the hatchback. Four-wheel drive and 1.8 turbo engines were initially available, followed by 3.2-litre narrow-angle V6 engines. The TT had great looks and 2+2 Coupé or two-seat Roadster bodies were combined with Boxster-beating performance. It was available as a coupe and convertible, also was bold, unique, and fun. Despite its reputation as a fashion statement rather than a drivers’ car, the TT became more popular in Britain than anywhere else. There was a wide range of options increased to include front-wheel-drive Roadster and Coupé with 150PS or 180PS, plus Coupé and Roadster quattro with 180PS, 225PS or 3.2 V6 250PS.
Final Edition
In contrast to the standard TT, the Final Edition’s black badging, door mirrors, exhaust tips, and spoiler all differentiate it from the standard model. Audi Sport gloss black alloys will be included on the TTS Final Edition – priced at £56,435. Choices of standard external paintwork can be red, white grey. MMI Navigation Plus with Audi Connect features three-year subscriptions and data services. It also gets a keyless entry system, park assist, and a sound system as part of the ‘Comfort & Sound’ package. It has a 2.0L engine with 306bhp and goes from 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds. There is a choice of front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive – dubbed quattro by Audi – but the latter is heavier and is only beneficial in wet conditions. Inside, the TT Final Edition’s cabin is enhanced by an array of additional conveniences and comforts. The extended leather pack includes leather door armrests, door pull handles, and trim on the centre console. Audi’s Technology Pack is fitted as standard on TT Final Editions, adding MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch and Audi Connect Infotainment Services, this has a 36 month subscription.
